President
Vivian Xue, Thomas Jefferson School for Science and Technology president@virginiajcl.org Avete comites! My name is Vivian Xue, and it’s truly an honor to serve as your VJCL President. I’m currently a junior at TJHSST and an AP Latin student, and serve as a historian on the TJ LHS Executive Board. I’ve been a part of the VJCL for 5 years and attended 5 state conventions and 2 nationals. Some things about me: 1) I live, laugh, and love Certamen and specialize in mythology (although I have an unparalleled respect for history players), 2) I cannot escape the influence of classics (not that I’ve tried), so most of my art is also classics-related, and 3) in my spare time, I can be found struggling through multivariable calculus and practicing archery. I am so unbelievably excited and grateful for this amazing opportunity, and I cannot wait to forge forward on new, favorable winds! |
First Vice President
Mackenzie Sanford, Flint Hill School 1stvp@virginiajcl.org Salvete omnes! I’m Mackenzie, a sophomore at Flint Hill taking AP Latin. I’ve been a part of the JCL for 4 years and am currently my local chapter’s First Vice President for the second time. I also enjoy Certamen (I’ve played on the Virginia team for the last 3 years), reading, doing art badly, and rock climbing. I’m so excited to be your First Vice President and I can’t wait to do more with the JCL! |
Second Vice President
Maddox Johnson, Midlothian High School 2ndvp@virginiajcl.org Hey Everyone i’m Maddox Johnson and I am your 2nd VP! I hope to continue VA’s legacy as a top spirit performer and run a great service project! If you have any personal questions or suggestions please send me a DM on instagram @maddoxjohnson_22. Looking forward to a great year! |
Secretary
Kaitlyn Tyler, Stafford High School secretary@virginiajcl.org Salvete Amici! My name is Kaitlyn, and I’m the 2024-2025 VJCL Secretary! I’m a sophomore at Stafford High School, and I’m currently taking Latin 3. I love the classics, so being able to involve myself in the VJCL as an officer is kind of a dream come true for me. I am excited to see what this year brings, and building connections with my fellow JCLers. |
Parliamentarian
Josh Kohm, Thomas Edison High School parliamentarian@virginiajcl.org Salvete Barbies, ego sum tuorum MMXIII-MMXXIV ParliKENtarian Josh Kohm. I’m currently an IB Latin Student at Thomas Edison High School in Fairfax County, and I’m super excited to serve as your Parliamentarian this year. I have played history (the best category) for the Virginia State Certamen team each of the last two years and have attended the National Conventions at University of Louisiana Lafayette and Emory University. Outside of the VJCL, I umpire youth baseball, serve as the Director of Finance for my school's Model UN club, and root for the Yankees (the best team). If you ever want to find me, I’ll be at every Certamen competition wearing some type of jacket yapping about either my hate for Honorius or my love for parliamentary procedure. |
Historian
Olivia Phelps, Flint Hill High School historian@virginiajcl.org Salvete! For the past three years, I have been lucky enough to serve on my school’s Classics Club board, but now I am even more honored to be your VJCL Historian! Classics provides me with long-time friends, wonderful teachers, and opportunities to learn. As Historian, I will capture the joy that Classics provides through photos, whether that would be at certamen, online events, or convention! |
Editor
Panchami Rangaraju, Lightridge High School editor@virginiajcl.org Hey everyone! My name is Panchami Rangaraju and I am so happy to be this year’s VJCL Editor! I’m currently a sophomore at Lightridge High School (go bolts), and have been taking Latin for four years now. The best way I can describe myself is that I’m a big fan of everything to do with words: I love reading, writing, and speaking (even translating Latin, although very badly). Besides Latin, I am an avid LD debater, Model UN geek, Editor-in-Chief of my school’s newspaper, a horror and rom-com movie buff, and a crippling foodie. If you ever want to talk about any of these things (especially food), shoot me an email or an insta dm: @panchami1.r! Can’t wait to see what this year will hold! |
